The Republic of Colombia, is a country located in the northwestern region of South America whose capital is the city of Bogotá. It has 32 departments with well-known cities such as Cartagena de Indias, Cali, Barranquilla, Medellin, Santa Marta and San Andres among others.

Colombia is the second most biodiverse country in the world, with 54 871 registered species, 24 however, one study places it among the eight countries responsible for half of the destruction of biodiversity in the world.
